Transforming Lives Through Education: CEMEPIA Africa’s Impact in Ibeju-Lekki

CEMEPIA Africa, a forward-thinking non-profit committed to eradicating poverty and illiteracy, is making remarkable strides in education through its partnership with Iberekodu Primary School in Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area, Lagos State. At the heart of this collaboration is the establishment of a Skill Acquisition and Learning Centre, designed to empower vulnerable children and adults—particularly victims of trafficking, abuse, and child labour—with access to both academic and practical education.

This initiative is unique in its integration of formal education with hands-on learning, providing students with essential academic instruction alongside life-enabling skills. Over 300 beneficiaries, including school children and community members, attend the centre daily, receiving completely free training and support—a vital lifeline for families who would otherwise be unable to afford such opportunities.

Children enrolled in Iberekodu Primary School benefit from academic education while simultaneously acquiring relevant skills that can enhance their personal and professional futures. For many, this marks the first time they have access to structured learning in a safe, nurturing environment.

Strong Emphasis on Computer Eduction

The program places strong emphasis on computer literacy, helping students gain digital proficiency crucial in today’s global economy. By learning to use computers, children and adults alike are better prepared for higher education, remote work, and digital entrepreneurship.

Through this model, CEMEPIA Africa is not only educating minds but also restoring hope and dignity, especially for those previously trapped in cycles of poverty and exploitation. Their approach to education is holistic—blending knowledge, mentorship, counselling, and vocational exposure to rebuild lives and foster long-term self-reliance.
